SIWEC provides a free online platform for members of the community to place death notices/obituaries in memory of loved ones. You can see sample obituaries here.

Before you start, you must have the following on hand:
- a photo of the deceased, and
- a copy of the death certificate.
Our staff will verify the information you have provided and, if necessary, we will call you on the number you have given, before publishing the obituary on the website. 

Please do not use all caps. Use proper sentence case only. 
Please do not use spaces to align or center your text (it will mess up the obituary).

For the next entry ("parents, siblings, children"), you can format the output the way you want it: simple vertical listing, or in a 2-column format. If using 2-columns, use the Table feature mentioned below.

Tips for creating a Table listing
:
  • Hover the mouse over each button to see its function in a tooltip.
  • To bold text (eg. "Parents", "Children") highlight the word and click the B button.
  • The first row of the editor allows you to format the text (e.g. bold, align, copy, paste)
  • The last row of buttons helps you create and manage a table, indent text, add a link, etc.
  • Create a simple vertical listing OR use the table feature to create two-column layouts, add rows, etc.
  • Avoid using more than two table columns due to space constraints in the obituary.
  • Use your keyboard's Tab key to move from cell to cell in a table.
  • Please do not use spaces to create a two-column display. Use the Table feature instead.

    On Desktop/laptop:

    • First, click the down-arrow icon on the Insert Table option (see screenshot below),
    • Then drag to select two columns only, and the number of rows you want (you can add more rows later if needed):

    • You will now see a table outline. Simply add your info within it. 
    • You can add & delete rows using these buttons (hover over the buttons to see tooltips)

    On Mobile:

    • Click the Insert Table option (ie left of the down arrow icon)
    • Enter 2 in Cols (columns), and any number of Rows.
    • Tap Insert, and start to type within the table outline.
